Vaccines: You can’t say No. But they’re free
It is interesting… in the days when Americans paid for vaccines ourselves, in cash, we were allowed to choose them for ourselves. We did so, judiciously and appropriately. No, I’m putting the wrong slant on this: there was no “allowed” about it. Back then, who ever imagined a future US government inserting itself into our…
Health Workers Under Pressure to Get Flu Shots/AP
From the Associated Press: Roughly half of health workers skip the immunizations, raising two concerns: If doctors and nurses get sick, who will treat what could be millions of Americans reeling from seasonal or swine flu? And could infected health workers make things worse by spreading flu to patients? New York, the first state to…

Data for the weeks ending July 18 and July 25 (MMWR weeks 29 and 30) currently show a decline; however, those data are likely to…
How little we know about lifestyle and longevity
I recently spent a lot of time in Spain, did a lot of reading about Spain, and got some surprises. The Spanish are the longest-lived people in Europe (barring tiny places like Monaco and San Marino), and are between the 5th and 10th most long-lived nation in the world, depending on who is counting. The…
Anne Schuchat, MD resigning as principal deputy director of CDC/
I do not know how the CDC operates. But I have been watching Anne Schuchat for over 20 years, since she was chosen to provide CDC’s testimony to Congress about the anthrax vaccine. She is quick on her feet, she is a good liar, she is now the highest career official at CDC, and she…
Large Mumps Outbreak Ongoing in Vaccinated Hasidic Jews
Snippets from Business Week. One solution being used in Orange County is to keep vaccinating with a third dose of the same vaccine, though the MMWR editor notes that no data exist to support this approach. Isn’t the appropriate answer to develop a better vaccine? According to the MMWR, “Among patients aged 7–18 years, the…

This Greek MD who lives in the US appeared on TV here claiming that the disease caused by the delta variant is WORSE, and that it's able to get around any antibodies created by recovering from Covid or created via vaccination:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PDY7Zs-lZNE
So basically, he's telling the vaccinated that they could get sick and die from the delta variant, which is 'worse'. However, he says that vaccinations should nevertheless speed up. More people need to be vaccinated. Oh, and we also need to keep wearing masks, even outside etc.
Is it just me or does all this seemed designed to cause fear and chaos? Is that why they had him appear on TV?
His claim about how the delta variant produces a disease that's worse than the original is one I have not seen anyone else make. Other doctors are saying the opposite.
Here's his bio. George N. Pavlakis, M.D., Ph.D:
